I started playing wallball at the tender age of 12 at St Johns park. It wasn’t until 1996 when I met my husband, George, at St Johns park that I begin to really know what competition was and that tournaments existed.

In 2002 I received my A Card for Dwight Worley SAHA because I took the women’s B singles. In 2001 and 2002 I took the women’s Open titles at Liberty Park in Queens, and the Women’s Singles title in Central Park.  in 2003 I took the Open doubles Iron Maiden title with Lori Acevedo; I also got to the final of the US Open itself.

In 2005 I created the Lincoln Terrace Handball Association INC. and was extremely proud in 2005 when I won the US Open with my 15 year old daughter, Quasia.

In 2015 I entered the European Tour and won the French Open doubles with my parter, Yolanda Monroe, and took 2nd place in the singles after losing to Scheffer from Holland. I then went on to win the Italian Open Doubles and placed 3rd in the doubles with my daughter.

I’m blessed to still be able to play ball and I am grateful for it. I will continue to play all over the world and will continue to throw tournaments in the very park I grew up in – St John’s.  - Veronica Figueroa
